Music
The Patrician Music Academy organise lunchtime recitals every Tuesday. The aim of the project is to promote music in the school and to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their talents. The concerts offer many genres of music from traditional, classical, rock, jazz to country and western. This mixture of material reflects the diverse musical cultures within the school and encourages all students to participate. The events are mainly organised and promoted by the students themselves.
Other musical activities include entertaining on school nights such as open night, TY graduation night and coffee evenings in the school. Students have entertained the sick and elderly at Castleross Nursing and convalescent Centre as well as raising money for SOSAD in Carrickmacross. In 2014, many students participated in a Highschool variety show which was headlined by local artist and winner of ‘The voice of Ireland’ competition, Brendan McCahey.
