Our school tour took place in Barcelona this year and was enjoyed by all students and teachers involved. Conor and Kyle in Transition year have written a small diary to share their experience of the trip!
"Here in the Patrician High school every year there is a school tour. This year TY, 2nd year and 1st year students went to Barcelona.
We left the High School at 2:45am on Saturday 15th April in order to check in at Dublin airport for 4:15am.
We arrived at the Olympic port in Barcelona at 9:45am. We explored the Olympic port area until 1pm when we went to the famous cathedral the Sagrada Familia.
At 3pm we travelled to our accommodation in the city centre of Barcelona. At 4:30pm we walked to the FresCo restaurant where we had really nice Italian food.
At 7pm our bus took us to the Camp Nou stadium to watch FC Barcelona play Real Sociedad, a game which ended with 3-2 to Barcelona. At 10:45 we left the stadium and returned to our accommodation and that was the end of day one.
At 8am we had breakfast. At 9am we set off for Plaza Catalunya, the main square in Barcelona. At 10am we had a walking tour of Barcelona. This was very interesting as we learned a lot about the art and architecture in the city. We had lunch at 1pm at the Boqueria Market. At 3:30pm our bus took us out to the Olympic Stadium. The view of the city from here was amazing.
At 6pm we visited the Maremagnum shopping centre and port area where we had dinner at a Chinese buffet. At 10 we returned to our accommodation.
At 9am we had breakfast and got the bus to Sitges where we spent the day at the sea side town. It was very sunny all day, it was class! In the evening we went for food back in Barcelona and at 10pm we returned to our accommodation. We were all exhausted after being in the sun all day!
On our final day in Barcelona we had our breakfast at 8am. At 8:30am we left for the theme park Portaventura. We spent the whole day until 5pm in Portaventura. We had a great time on all the rollercoasters and amusements in the park. At 5:15pm we left for Barcelona airport. We checked in at the airport at 7:15pm. Our flight departed from Barcelona and at about 11pm we arrived back in Dublin airport.
All in all, every student and even the teachers enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was a school tour that we will never forget!"
