High School Classic Video Games Winners

May 31 2016

Pictured above are this year's winners of the Patrician High School Classic Video Games Tournament. Spanning the full school year, this lunch-time activity aims to  entertain the students but also to introduce them to the classic games that spawned the multi-million euro industry we know today. This is the second year of the competition and this year there was a lively mix of vintage games, indie productions and also one or two modern blockbusters. Games played included PacMan, Burger Time, Donkey Kong, Super Meat Boy, Saviours, Defender, Trials Fusion, Millipede, Sonic the Hedgehog, Missile Command, Pong and Marble Blast Ultra.  The winner of the overall competition was Matthew McConnell who won a Kindle Fire 8 HD while the runner-up Shaun Courtney received a Kindle Paperwhite.  Third place finisher Ryan McEneaney took possession of a Nintendo 2DS with Super Mario Bros 2, while 4th place David O'Sullivan won a €50 Amazon Voucher.  There were also two draws for anybody who competed over the course of the year.  Peter Wakely won a €40 Amazon voucher while Oisin McPhilips won a €25 Amazon voucher.  The Video Game tournament was a huge success with over 30 students competing every lunchtime. The lunchtime room is fully supervised and is a fun and relaxing way to make new friends and learn more about the art of video games.
