Safer Internet
Day 2016
Since its launch in 2004 Patrician High School has celebrated Safer Internet Day, it has become a landmark event on our school calendar. We recognise the fundamental necessity to ensure our young people are aware and vigilant while using the internet.
From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns. For SID 2016, celebrated on Tuesday, 9 February, the theme for the day was 'Play your part for a better internet', reflecting the fact that we all have a role to play.
Safer Internet Day is deemed extremely important, teacher Ms. Murphy, our SID ambassador, transition year student George Marston along with Webwise panellists James Finnegan and Fionn O’Callaghan decided to run a campaign targeting first year students. A competition was organised to highlight and promote internet safety, entries were welcomed in a variety of formats and the contest was highly successful. Congratulations to all the first year winners who have received their prizes.
